A dynamically positioned derrick lay barge, the Acergy Polaris is the ideal barge for pipelay and construction activities in deepwater fields. Equipped with both “S” and “J” configuration pipelay capabilities, diving and ROV services and a crane with a revolving lift capability in excess of 1000tonnes, she can undertake the installation of deepwater moorings, subsea structures and pipelines. She can also perform tie-in and support functions. The Acergy Polaris is ideally suited for deepwater construction tasks in West Africa, the Gulf of Mexico and Brazil.
The Acergy Polaris has an impressive track record. Notable projects have included:
• Greater Plutonio in Angola Block 18, located in a water depth of between 1200 and 1500 metres, this ambitious SURF project involved the design, construction and installation of an innovative 1200m long Hyperflow® Riser Tower as well as the construction and installation of an extensive subsea production facility. The project required 1,650 construction vessel days, some 37,000 tonnes of steel pipelines and materials were installed on the seabed. In total, 7.3 million Acergy manhours were spent on the project involving over 560 onshore and 1300 offshore personnel.
• GIRASSOL Field Development in 1,400 m water depth (J Lay 12-inch gas and water injection - Installation of FPSO mooring arrangement as well as manifolds and spools)
• Amerada Hess Ceiba Project in 900 m waterdepth (Steep slay 6 & 10-inch pipeline as well as manifold and spool pieces)
• Kizomba (Exxon Mobil) installation and diving of 82-inch dia. 300 mT piles in 1200 m part of TLP mooring arrangement
• Shell Bonga in 1,200 m waterdepth (J Lay 10 to 16-inch - S Lay 1-inch - installation of jumpers)
