Mensa Umbilical Installation

The Mensa field consists of three subsea gas wells in over 5,000 feet of water in the Gulf of Mexico. The field is tied-back five miles to a subsea manifold, then tied-back a further 63 miles to an existing Shell platform. Our task was to install two separate 64 mile long electrical and hydraulic main interfield umbilicals. Much of the work was carried out in waters up to 5,325 feet deep using diverless techniques. The successful completion of the project set two world records – for the deepest and longest offset distance umbilical installation.
