Ormen Lange MEG Pipelines Installation

This major project calls for the laying of two 6” MEG pipelines, each 125 kilometres long, from Nyhamna in Norway to the Ormen Lange field. A further 3.4 kilometres of infield pipeline must also be laid, and 4 PLETS installed to the ends of all pipelines. Waterfilling, pigging, gauging, cleaning and pressure testing will also be required, along with landfall pull-ins at Nyhamna. The project, due to complete in 2006, will not be easy. Schedules and seabed conditions are equally demanding. Extensive planning is already under way to ensure problems are anticipated and managed effectively.
